Is this background remover really free?

Yes. Every signed-in account gets 10 images a day at no cost, and the allowance resets every day — there is no card to add and no trial that runs out. Free runs come back as full-resolution transparent PNGs and can be used commercially. Credits only come into it if you want Pro's extra precision on a difficult photo, or need more than 10 images in one day. Upgrade to a membership — any subscription or credit pack — and Free becomes unlimited.

Do I need an account?

You need to be signed in to run an image — that is what the daily free allowance is counted against. Signing in takes a few seconds with Google or an email code, with nothing to pay and no card to add. You can drop images in and look around before you sign in.

Which file types can I upload?

JPEG, PNG, WEBP, up to 15 MB each. JPG and JPEG are the same format, so files ending in either extension work. Anything over the size limit is turned away before it uploads, so you are never charged for a file that never ran.

What do I get back — is the resolution reduced?

A PNG with a real alpha channel, at exactly the pixel dimensions you uploaded. Nothing is downscaled or cropped, so the cutout drops straight into a layout, a store listing or a print file without a second round of resizing.

Can I remove the background from several images at once?

Yes — up to 10 images per batch. Each image is processed on its own and appears as its own result, so one difficult photo never holds up the rest. Once two or more are finished you can take the whole set as a single zip instead of downloading them one at a time.

Are my images private, and how long are they kept?

Uploads and results live in your workspace and no other user can browse them. There is one exception, and it applies only to the free tier: we may pick a free-tier result and show it publicly — in our showcase, as an example on this page, or in marketing material — as set out in our terms. Anything you run on Pro is never published. Either way, results stay downloadable for 7 days on the free plan and up to 365 days on the highest subscription tier, after which they are deleted from storage.

What happens if an image fails?

The credits for that image are returned to your balance automatically and the result card says so. You can retry the same image from the result card without uploading it again.

What is the difference between Free and Pro?

The gap shows up on hard edges. Free costs nothing, covers 10 images a day (unlimited with a membership), and does well on clean, well-lit subjects. Pro cuts with more precision — fine hair, fur and cluttered backgrounds hold together far more reliably — costs 2 credits per image, and has no daily cap. Both return a full-resolution PNG with alpha at the size you uploaded. If you are unsure, run the tricky image on Free first — finding out costs nothing.

Can I use the results commercially?

Yes. Cutouts you make here are yours to use for product listings, ads, print or anything else, on every tier including Free. The one thing we cannot grant is rights to the original photo — if you did not take it or license it, removing the background does not change that.

What about hair, glass and reflections?

These are the honest limits. Fine strands of hair and fur usually come out well on Pro and acceptably on Free, but very thin flyaways over a similar-coloured background can be lost. Semi-transparent objects — glass, veils, smoke — are cut as either opaque or gone, because a single alpha mask cannot describe partial see-through. Strong reflections on chrome or water may keep a sliver of the old background. For those, expect a quick touch-up afterwards rather than a finished file.

What this background remover does

It finds the main subject in a photo — a person, a product, a pet, a piece of handwriting — and returns the same image with everything else made transparent. The output is a PNG with an alpha channel at the original resolution: nothing is resized or cropped. You can drop up to 10 images in at once and download them one by one or all at once.
