New accounts get starter credits on sign-up — enough to explore the studio and generate images. A full track costs more than the welcome balance, so a plan or a credit pack is what gets you your first song. Either way, every generation shows its exact cost before you commit, and failed generations refund automatically.

Do I need to write my own lyrics?

No. Three ways in: paste your own lyrics with structure tags like [Verse] and [Chorus], open the AI lyric writer and describe your theme to get two drafts to choose from, or skip words entirely with instrumental mode.

Cover mode is coming soon. Upload a reference audio, we extract its lyrics for you to edit, then generate a new version in the style you describe — the melody stays, the sound is reborn.

Can I choose the song length?

Yes — on Suno 5.5 custom mode, drag the slider anywhere from 10 seconds to 6 minutes. On Lyria 3 the model arranges a full song around your prompt.

What audio formats can I download?

Tracks come back as ready-to-use audio files you can play in the studio and drop into any editor. Download hands you the original file the model produced, never a re-encode.

Can I use the music commercially?

Yes — paid plans include commercial usage rights for your generated tracks. Free-tier outputs carry restrictions; check the plan details on the pricing page.

Instrumental or vocals — how do I choose?

There's a switch in the studio. Instrumental gives you pure music from a style prompt; turning it off unlocks the lyrics box — and in custom mode you can also pick a male or female voice.
